Sophie was born in Edinburgh and is currently based in Glasgow. She trained in dance throughout school ( ballet, Flamenco and Jazz) along with attending youth theatre in Edinburgh. After taking on some professional television work as a teenager Sophie decided to purse acting as a career. Sophie has always been an outgoing energetic individual which with an interest in performance, creativity, people and stories.
Sophie lived in London shortly after she left school, working Front of house in some of London's West End theatres. She then trained in Acting and Performance at Edinburgh's Telford College, graduating in 2008. She later topped up her HND, at the University of the West of Scotland, gaining an Honours Degree in Performance, graduating in 2011.
Throughout her training, Sophie continued to work as an actor. Alongside this she began gaining experience as a drama workshop faciliator, with various organisations in Scotland. This has included facilitating, directing and playwriting with / for young people age 0-25 around the UK and europe.
in 2014 Sophie trained with the Diploma in Physical theatre (Fife College at Summerhall, Edinburgh). This course re-ignited Sophie's earlier passion for movement and an understanding of more physical, visual, experimental and devised theatre. Puppetry, choreography, movement, mask, clown, bouffon with surrealist, devised and outdoor theatre became new tools available to Sophie as a performer and maker. Sophie has since created her own physical and outdoor theatreand toured the country as an actor / faciliator with various companies. She also helped set up charity Be Enriched and was able to co-found and project manage a variety of family and young people's therapeutic arts projects.
Today Sophie equally enjoys performing (particularly character, comedy and physical roles) and writing / creating work with collaborators. She is co-founder and member of "Alternative Sanity Beuro", a group working on web and screen content exploring mental health topics through comedy and she regularly collaborates with other artists. Directing and writing are areas in which Sophie is gaining further experience. She also enjoys working creatively with young people and early years.
Sophie enjoys the varied and challenging nature of working in the performing arts and travelling around the country (and even the world) meeting new people and experiencing new cultures while using her skills and passions.
